Romantic Landscapes is a publication I made as a response to Timmothy Morton’s book “The Ecological Thought”. According to Morton, one of the biggest problems the ecological crisis is the romantic view of what nature is. That we no longer see ourselves as part of nature but rather as its superior.
By compressing romantic paintings through an emoji filter, the results
show a contemporary narrative
where antropogenic activity and
speed is dominating.
The painting representing the way in which we see nature
and the emoji replica represents the anthropogenic degradation of the same environment.
